Project Scope

Primary Features

1. User Account Management

Each Hubberstore user will be able to manage their account at their own discretion. This includes the following:

  • Update of Account Particulars
  • Multiple Store Management
  • Individual Item Management
  • Friends and Social Network Connections

2. Individual Store Management

Hubberstore provides every user an overarching analysis of their store items across 3 transaction types - Sales, Trading or Give aways. Hubberstore also extends 2 separate types of account, Free and Premium to cater to different user groups. The Free account allows a limit of 25 items to be listed within the platform. Separately, the Premium Account allows for more stores to be created under the same user, as well as sophisticated control over their items.

3. Store Item Management

As part of the store item management, Hubberstore users will be allowed to access their portfolio store items and manage them individually. This can be viewed in more detail at the <a href=“https://wiki.smu.edu.sg/is480/Medium_Fidelity”>Medium-Fidelity (Conceptual Designs).</a> The scope of managing each item encompasses the following:

  • Update of Item Details
  • Track item views
  • View likes, comments and ratings of item

4. Transaction Management

Each transaction will be tracked and tagged to a particular seller, buyer & transaction method. These transactions are tracked and logged into the database for analysis (Administrator Analytics Function). Additionally, buyers, sellers and other users will be able to view historical transaction records. This can be used in the event of a recall order due to product defects or malfunction.

5. Administrator Analytics Management

By leveraging on information provided by ratings, likes, comments etc., the administrator will be able to view a visual representation of customer patterns & sales trends etc. Additional visual representation will take in a wide variety of inputs such as transactions held, users with the best seller ratings etc. This function will utilize a wide range of d3 data driven tools to visually provide information for better insights and analysis, facilitating better store management for analysis.

Secondary Features

1. Social Network Connections

This project will focus on using the following social network connections mentioned below to achieve the highest amount of web content engagement and sales interaction.

  • Facebook
    The Facebook platform will allow Hubberstore users retrieve friends from the social network and share new sales products from Hubberstore with them. Additionally, Hubberstore users can select specific groups of friends to share a product with. This sharing can be in the form of live chatroom interaction, likes or ratings which can potentially lead to a successful transaction. Facebook allows hubberstore to capitalize on a large existing user base, with social interactive features to increase user traffic, thus reaching out to a wide range of audience and increasing the probability of making successful transactions.
  • Google+
    Similar to Facebook, the connection with Google+ will allow for users to be share, shout-outs and discuss new items and stores on their account.
  • Twitter
    The Twitter platform takes on a different role from Facebook and Google+. As a social network which focuses on short, concise and impactful text, this platform will allow users to share items and details efficiently. Users are also able to post interesting new store items/stores to their twitter account to increase web visibility.

2. Rate, Like & Comment Function

Each individual item or stores have a like/dislike function, text box for comments and given a rating on by fellow Hubberstore users. This allows a user based quality check mechanism, providing an efficient and accurate measure for feedback. It also helps users have a better understanding of the items and stores which they may have interest in making a transaction with.

3. Search Function

As part of all e-commerce business, the search function allows users to be able to find information efficiently. This will be done by tagging each item, store and user to a unique metadata tag which allows for quick and effective searching.

Tertiary Features

1. Chat Function

A live chat function will be created similar to the Facebook chat function where users will be able to discuss item information with counter-parties. This will allow users to have better understanding of the items sold or perhaps allow the discussion of asking price for a particular product.

2. Commission Function

Hubberstore users will be able to earn commission by selling other people’s products on their own social networks and earn a commission (% of sales price). By leveraging on a user's popularity on social networks, the more a user is able to carry out more transactions, the more commission money he/she will be able to earn. The commission % will be listed on each item's site.
