Overview

After 2 rounds of previous user testing on Merchant and Admin functions, refinements and improvements made together with the feedbacks from Prof Gan, Prof Woodard, and our supervisor Prof Hoi during midterm, we were ready to release TheFoodieMarket for real merchants and admin to test our website.

Purpose

1) Were the real merchants and admin able to accomplish each of the tasks without any help from the facilitators?
2) Do the merchants find the functions and their UI intuitive, easy to understand and use?

the website's aesthetic design is appealing (colours, font etc) and the idea of sharing ads is worth marketing

Functions need to be slicker, success alerts need to be in place and validation of data

Insights gained

Merchant Upload Function

1. Testers indicated the need to inform merchants regarding the ad image minimum/maximum size limit for the file uploader. 2. Ad description box can be improved further by starting the description box from the start

Merchant/Admin/Customer Mailbox Notification Function

1. Testers stated the need to have alert numbers at the respective homepages and on the inbox tabs to inform respective users of the presence of the incoming new notifications. 2. Notifications that are new and unread should be displayed the top of the notifications page and with a different color 3. With regards to Admin notifications of ads approval, testers stated that it would be good that the onclick of the notification content would automatically redirect admin to the “Pending Ads” section or alternatively, allow admin to directly approve/reject the advertisement directly from the notification.

Admin Create Merchant Function

1. Testers feed backed the when admin is creating merchant account on behalf on the merchant; the password should be automatically generated for privacy purposes.

Admin Read merchant Function

1. Testers expressed the “Accounts Table” wording convention was confusing and should be re-phrased. 2. They also mentioned that since there was a long list of merchant accounts, it would be good to have serial numbers and creation times of each merchant displayed in descending order.
