Our Project Scope SMU tBank

Project Description

Our group will be building a Bank Teller Web Application (BTA) and setting up SMU tBank Core Services (CS). The BTA’s user interface will include common tasks such as deposits and withdrawals and some unique functions such as profile based cross-selling recommendations. The CS consists of various systems (i.e. databases and SharePoint) that executes the business logic of retail banking processes such as the setting up of accounts, which are exposed as services in TIBCO EMS and accessed by SMU tBank Retail Banking Channels (Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Bank Teller, ATM) via a service mediation layer. The Bank Teller web application will be run via a web browser on SMU tBank “employees’” personal computers, with the Core Services hosted on a server in SMU.

Ideal Model for Teaching!

SMU tBank is a research project undertaken by SMU SIS. Its two primary purposes are to serve as a teaching tool for its undergraduate courses and postgraduate MITB masters course (Masters in Information Technology Banking & Finance) track, and as an ideal model for IT architecture in financial institutions and banks to emulate. The BTA’s primary users are both postgraduate and undergraduate students that seek to learn more about retail banking and a bank teller application’s processes and systems. Other users also include other bank tellers and bank executives that are exploring the SMU tBank as a model. CS will be utitlized by our own BTA, and 3 other FYP teams constructing the Retail Banking Channels.
