Welcome to M.O.O.T's IS480 Wiki page! Initially, we started off with the idea of having an interactive mall directory, in the form of a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel, that would aid shoppers to find a particular place or to decide on a place to go to within a shorter period of time, instead of poring over the directory for more than 15 minutes – manually looking for a place or to trying to figure out what kind of food does “Oriole” proffers. The directory will serve the functions resembling a computer, enabling speedy searching.

The directory will categorize tenants into more comprehensive categories e.g. Thai Eateries, Western Eateries, and so on instead of overwhelming mall-goers with a list of restaurants. Such categorization will also spare patrons from the trouble of guessing the meaning underlying an unusual restaurant name. As an overview of the menu or products and illustrations of the ambience of a place will be provided as well, patrons will be able to make a decision right there and then, without the pain of going to the place to discover that it is not what they hope for.

* Engagement through social media

Patrons will be able to rate and comment on mall tenants. Such review comes in handy in aiding ambivalent patrons. Malls adopting such directory can also be assured that they possess a competitive advantage over their rivals, for social media is potentially a new way of doing business.

* Another marketing platform

Our interactive directory also allows tenants to upload their promotions to the directory. Being informed about promotions may influence patrons to patronize the tenants concerned, generating more crowds to the tenants. If tenants are doing well, they are likely to stay, and a hike in rent will then be more tolerated.

However, as our client, CapitaMall, is looking for more fun and interactive ways to engage shoppers, our team will be coming up with an interactive wall display instead. This wall display is titled AlterSense.

Welcome to M.O.O.T's IS480 Wiki page! We've come a long way and are gearing up for final presentation, which will take place at 0930 on Monday, 3 December 2012.

We are glad that AlterSense has been tested by shoppers in an actual mall setting! We had our User Testing 2 on 5 November. Prior to that, we tested the gender recognition feature of AlterSense at T-Junction during User Testing 1.

Do check out our midterm progress as well.

Initially, we started off with the idea of having an interactive mall directory. Now, we are developing a targeted advertising platform with motion sensing technology. We have come a long way, indeed. The following picture summarizes our journey so far:
