User Testing

User Testing 1

Venue: SOE SR 3.9

Date: 7 November 2018

Time: 7 - 8 PM

Duration: 30 Mins

No. of Participants: 10

Objective:

1) identify bugs, likewise add new test to test cases
2) any irregularities in the hybrid application that were unknown during the development phase
3) ensure user’s behaviour matches the desired usage

Scope:

1. Create new account
2. Add Fitbit Device
3. View Sleep Analysis
4. View Nutrition Analysis and input new food entry

Procedure:

User Testing 1 Results:

No. Function Comment/Feedback Actions to be taken
1 Sleep Analysis More risks would be good. And better to use table to show the risks and perhaps the probability like “high risk”, “medium risk”, “low risk”. 1. Different risks have different colour

2. Use Table to display the risks

2 Nutrition Analysis Font is quite small.

Readability can be improved.

1. Increase font size

2. Variation in fonts used

3 Add food log Process is quite simple but the date can use calendar for faster logging. Also, it can be very slow sometimes when waiting for the app to process but there is no sign that the app is processing. Maybe can add a loading sign. 1. Add calendar to food log date

2. Show that app is processing entry by displaying loading icon

4 Register new account Process is quite intuitive but can be made faster. Some data needed are duplicate, like DOB and age.

Also, some errors on DOB. System did not specify the format needed.

1. Reduce the number of questions asked by removing duplicates

2. Make the questionnaire more interactive
3. System provides error message.

User Testing 2

Venue: SOL GSR 3.08

Date: 13 January 2019

Time: 1pm – 3pm

Duration: 30 Mins

No. of Participants: 10

Objective:

1) To test new functionalities and to identify missing workflow or process
2) To identify usability issues and improvements
3) To find gaps in logic/design of the app

Scope:

1. Add Google Fit account
2. Input new food entry by using camera to take a picture of the food
3. View activity analysis
4. View Mood analysis
5. View Dashboard analysis (overall correlation and recommendation)

Procedure:

User Testing 2 Results:

No. Function Comment/Feedback Actions to be taken
1 Nutrition Analysis Quite slow when logging food entry using the camera function.

Best to allow users to be able to have a few options to pick the food they ate and not automatically select because it is not very accurate. Quite easy to use but did not know the graph can be clicked on.

The risks and recommendations are also too long and did not suggest foods users should stop eating instead. The design is also quite bad because they do not make the users want to continue reading.

Design is quite off especially the graph colours. Does not show contrast.

1. Allow users to have the option to select the food they eat after taking the photo

2. Show values of actual and optimum beside graph rather than needing users to tap on it.

3. Redesign graph and risks/recommendations page

2 Activity Analysis Too much colours for the graph here. Contrast is not strong enough.

Page looks very simple and clear but design can be better.

Recommendations and risks not very user-friendly especially as there are many words and the design is very strange, with italics and bold.

1. Change graph design to have few colours but more contrast between actual and optimum

2. Change recommendations and risks design to be more user-friendly such as by cutting down the words.

3 Mood Analysis Quite intuitive to use and to log mood. But there are no checks on the number of times one can input. (possible user misuse?)

Also, the mood log does not allow user to add comments or notes.

Mood logs shown in timeline format is weird and the icon cannot be seen clearly.

1. Checks on number of times users can input their mood (such as once per hour)

2. Allow users to add comments/notes together with the input.
3. Show mood logs in a more user-friendly manner.

4 Dashboard Analysis Placement of function is not clear on app. Some users could not find the dashboard analysis.

Users also find the analysis too long and too wordy.

1. Create a new icon for dashboard analysis on homepage so users can find it easily.

2. Cut down on words used for recommendations.

User Testing 3

Venue: SOE SR 3.2

Date: 15 January 2019

Time: 5pm – 6pm

Duration: 30 Mins

No. of Participants: 20

Objective:

1) To test new functionalities and to identify missing workflow or process
2) To identify usability issues and improvements
3) To find gaps in logic/design of the app

Scope:

1. Add Google Fit/Fit Bit account
2. Input new food entry by using camera to take a picture of the food
3. View Sleep Analysis
4. View Nutrition Analysis
5. Log new goal

Procedure:

Test Plan: Click Here

User Testing 3 Results:

No. Function Comment/Feedback Actions to be taken
1 Nutrition Analysis Lag when processing food log.

Quite cool that app can automatically detect food based on picture.

Easy to use but did not know the graph can be clicked on.

Risks and Recommendations were good as no other apps have done this. However, credibility is a concern.

1. Can have a guide that explains that graph can be clicked.

2. Explanation on how risks are derived.

2 Sleep Analysis A bit hard to read the timing for Total Sleep Time.

Page is simple and clear. Intuitive for user.

1. Change font used for Total Sleep Time to make it more obvious that it is hours not time
3 Add Fitbit/Google Fit device A little hard to navigate to add device page 1. Improve on navigation by putting add device as a separate icon
4 Add new goal Log page is confusing because it did not specify which must be filled. 1. Have drop-down list for log goals page.
