Analysis

Based on the user’s feedback, below are some common trends that our group has identified. (Refer to Functional Prototype_User Feedback (Raw Data).xlsx for full user feedback)

General Observations

Users rarely clear the level on their first attempt but grasp the concept of the game fairly quickly in terms of what to do to win the game. Majority preferred the revised gameplay as opposed to the previous one, as it’s easier to comprehend. Most users commented that the gameplay is more intuitive; they know that they’re supposed to collect the tokens for the new gameplay, as opposed to the previous gameplay, where they did not know that they’re supposed to kill the hunter to clear the level. Most users also mention that the gameplay time is too short; users will be bored easily if they can clear levels within a short period of time.

Fluidity

Users would prefer having more animation and sound. They commented that the fluidity can be further improved.

Storyflow

The game flow is comprehended by users pretty easily. However, it would be even better to have some explanation of Gralch’s story. Overall, the results of the survey show a promising future for our revised gameplay. When we got the user to rate the revised gameplay as opposed to the previous one, the user favoured the previous gameplay, due to the more appealing graphics. However, after promising that the revised gameplay will have the same level of graphics, or perhaps even more, the users chose the revised gameplay, due to several reasons like: 1. The gameplay is more straightforward and intuitive; users are able to know what is expected of them even without any guide or whatsoever.
2. The revised gameplay is more challenging than the previous; instead of just hitting the hunter, users have to hit a series of target (tokens) in succession.
However, given that some testers commented about the gameplay being too easy (can clear within a short period of time), we will also look into ways to either increase the complexity or lengthen the playtime.
