Living in the digital age, many companies have adopted various kinds of technologies to improve their profitability and competitiveness in the market. In this project, our sponsor a multinational company has provided trade area delimitations for 12 different stores and wishes to see the possible benefits of integrating a geographic information system into their business model.The 12 store trade areas will be digitalized out using Open street map as a reference and its surrounding point of interest (POIs) will be extracted. Analysis using these POIs and other shapefiles such as roadmap would be then carried out to find useful takeaways using QGIS implementations.

Group 14 took up this project to gain insight and experiences of a real-life scenario. We believe that some lessons on geospatial analysis can only be learned by exploring outside the classroom which led us to take seize this opportunity. Through descriptive analytics and the various capabilities of QGIS such as road network analysis and etc, we will deliver meaningful insights for our sponsor to implement into their business model. |
