Part One: Thematic Mapping
Distribution of Public Education Institutions in Singapore
This is a point symbol qualitative thematic map with Open Street Map background, with each institution type differentiated by the circle’s colour. The variable used in the creation of point symbols is ‘mainlevel_’. This is the preferred choice of classification for each institution is sorted to one school type (Centralised Institute or Junior College, etc). Secondly, there are no missing values within the variable. And lastly, there are only five different categorisation type within the ‘mainlevel_’ variable. Hence, there is no need to merge/reduce some categories.
