Task 3 Insights of Factors of Air Quality
From task 1 and task 2, we already know that air quality in Sofia is becoming a very serious environment problem. In order to more efficiently solve air quality problem in Sofia, we may need to know the factors that affect air quality first. This graph shows that the daily average of P1 and P2 value, it's very easy to find out that the change and trend of P1 and P2 values are very consistent. And the color shows the daily average temperature. We can see that air quality and temperature are negative correlated. When temperature is high, air quality are better, when temperature are low, air quality are worse.
This graph shows for 24 hours, the change of P1 and P2 value and temperature. We can find out that from 7 to 17, temperature is higher, but air quality are better, In other duration, temperature are lower, but air quality are worse.
This graph is to show the daily average P1 and P2 value and humidity. From this graph, humidity is positive correlated with air quality. When humidity is low, air quality is better. When humidity is high, air quality is worse.
This graph is to show a typical day of air quality and humidity. From 7 to 17, humidity is low and air quality are better. In other duration, humidity is high and air quality are worse.
From the previous task insights, we know that local energy sources have impaction on air quality. In winter, there are more household burning of fossil fuels or biomass, which would produce more PM10 and PM2.5. The results from task1 and task2 showed that compared to summer, air quality in winter is worse. And, there are more emissions from household burning of fossil fuels or biomass and transport gas pollutant in the center of Sofia, where air quality is worse according to the measurements of sensors in task 1 and task 2. Also, local meteorology, such as temperature and humidity, has influence on air quality. Temperature and air quality have negative correlation; however, humidity and air quality have positive correlation.
