How did the virus gets transmitted?

As identified earlier that Smogtown Explosion and Truck Accident on 610 between Plainville and Westside are the two main events that causes people to be sick. Let’s dive deep into the details of the event to uncovers how the virus gets transmitted before the outbreak.

Respiratory Viral Outbreak

Smogtown Explosion Loud Explosion, Huge Smoke, Fire Outbreak. Lasted for 9 hours from 11:00 AM to 08:00 PM

As seen from the above messages related to Smogtown Explosion, it was initially thought that the infection might have been transmitted through the air due to the huge smoke emitted after the explosion and lasted for 9 hours. However, the weather and wind direction that are blowing in mainly in the western direction for the next 3 days does not support the hypothesis that the smoke could have been blown towards downtown and cause the respiratory viral outbreak.

Therefore, we can conclude that it could be both an air borne and human transmission where the resident living in or near Smugtown could have contacted with respiratory issues due to the huge amount of smoke emitted from the burning of unkonw material during the explosion. Those who are infected by the respirational issues eventually travels to Downtown and Uptown for work, engaging in sports activities and attending events could have spread the virals through human interaction with one another.

The fact that the viral infection was spread across the city makes very good sense that human is the main factor and carrier for the virus and eventually spreading it through interaction with one another when they commute to work.

Gastrointestinal Viral Outbreak

Truck Accident: Truck Topple, Truck Cashed, Fire Break Out, Spills from Truck Storage, Lasted for 11 hours from 09:00 AM to 08:00 PM

As seen from the above messages related to Truck Accident on Highyway 610, not only was it a terrible accident that cause a fire to break out, the most disastrous problem is the spilling of cargo from the truck when it topple. To make thing worst, the highway is located above the Vast River, giving it the possibility that the spillage could have ended up in the river contaminating the water that flows through the city.

Vastopolis has two stadiums (Vastopolis Dome and Westside Stadium) for sports, concerts, and other events. Vast River, which flows south at a steady rate of three miles per hour, serves as an area for the water-based sports and recreation.

The fact that gastrointestinal symptoms are mainly contained within Westside, Plainville, Smugtown and Villa that are located by the river bank, it is highly possible that resident has come in contact with the contaminated water after the Truck accident on 17 May 2011. On 18 May, more gastrointestinal related cases started to surface on 18 May before the outbreak on 19 May.

Lastly, as the wind is mainly blowing in the western direction at a relatively high speed of 9 miles per hour, is increasing the rate of river flow by 3 times, easily spreading the contaminated water across more city zones along the river bank. This could be the main reason that the Gastrointestinal Viral Outbreak occurs within 4 zones that falls along the river bank through water borne transmission.
