Mystery Outbreak: Hospitals Scramble to handle Deluge of Patients amid baseline Overcrowding problem
VASTOPOLIS CITY HOSPITAL, SMARTPOLIS - Already feeling the pinch of pre-existing overcrowding problems in the face of a steadily declining workforce, Smartpolis’ hospitals appear to be hit with yet another blow in the form of a recent mystery outbreak.
Over the last few days, health professionals have observed an unusual surge in hospital admissions for similar flu-like cases. Observed symptoms include fever, chills, sweats, aches and pains, fatigue, coughing, breathing difficulty, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and enlarged lymph nodes. More recently, several deaths are believed to be associated with the current outbreak. From an operational perspective, the dramatic increase in admissions has put even more strain on the already understaffed and overcrowded healthcare facilities.
Thus far, authorities have confirmed a similar surge in cases across all 13 local hospital facilities, and fear a possible epidemic in the horizon. Sources report that city officials have begun mobilizing emergency management resources to mitigate the impact. -CHELAR. T/THE SMARTPOLIS DAILY

- Satellite map image: This satellite image is a map of the entire Smartpolis metropolitan area. It contains labelled highways, water bodies, and major landmarks, and also shows the demarcation of Smartpolis’ 13 major regions.
